Message From Idina - Thank You!

Hello everyone!

Just wanted to say thank you , thank you, thank you for all the birthday gifts and letters and wishes! Hopefully, I will be able to thank you all in person sometime this summer when I'm touring. There are more dates coming soon! I'm on my way to a little weekend getaway with my hubby. I really need it. That London trip to DC was exhausting. I'm going to re-energize and then get back on the road. Anyone have any great ideas for a cover tune I could perform in my concerts? Could be a man or womans song. Doesn't matter. Let me know your thoughts. Have a great weekend. And once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for remembering my bday.

xx Idina

Covers

"One" by Three Dog Night/Harry Nilsson.
I'd love for you to get a little funky and do a cover of "Eleanor Rigby" as well. If you haven't listened to Aretha's version of that, do it.

COME TO ENGLAND AND DO A CONCERT PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAASE!! Everyone loves you over here and we'd love to see you in concert!

Two:

I think you'd be amazing at "Teardrops On My Guitar" by Taylor Swift as your cover song. XD

Song

Well, seeing as there are QUITE a few suggestions for a cover song, I felt like following the status quo...for once. Anyway, my suggestion is Come So Far (Got So Far To Go) from Hairspray the movie. It's probably a stupid song to most people, but this song literally aided me in remebering that everyone has their time. It also helped me write a novel, as well as a collection of sons. Most importantly, though, it saved me from running away to NYC. After all, don't we have to know where we've been in oreder to know where we're going?

All this talk of cover songs....

It's making me so jealous that I won't be able to see you. :(
But, I hope it all goes well!

I have to say though, if I were to see you, I would love to hear you sing "It Only Hurts When I breathe" again, because I've heard that, and wish I could have it on my iPod. Hehe, beautiful.

But, seriously, I won't post any more- because the list is already huge!
And you'd do well singing anything.

Hey Idina! Happy belated birthday... Unless I already said happy birthday on the 30th...
I really think you should do 2 things:

Concert in New York on June 25th!

So, Idina, I'm super excited for you're concert on the 25th. I'm gonna be there! And I was wondering if you will be signing autographs after the show. I really hope you can, because I would die to take a picture with you. And I really wanted to last time I went to your concert (the one in New Brunswick). I was waiting, but it started to rain! :-( My parents made me leave, and I was so sad. I was hoping I would get to meet you this time! So please, please, PLEASE come out to sign autographs this time!
Let's hope it doesn't rain this time! ;-)

Tons of Fans From Lil' Connecticut

Yes! More people from Connecticut!
Dee, you have so mnay fans here. Since we are NEAR New York, a lot of people are fans of Broadway, especially Wicked and Rent. Also, a gig or two in central Connecticut would allow Fanzels from Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island to see you! After all, the train lets out near some theatres!

First of all, Idina, I'd like to thank you for being such an inspiration to me. You are FABULOUS at everything you do, and I cannot wait to see you live in Atlantic City!!! Anyway, when I think of songs I'd like to hear you do, the muscial "The Last Five Years" comes to mind. I'd love to hear you sing any of Cathy's songs from that, especially "A Summer In Ohio." It's a hilarious, fun song and I'd love to see you do it and put your spin on it. Also, Kelly Clarkson's "Sober" would be wonderful for you. From your music, I would love to hear you do "Heart On My Sleeve", as it is my absolute favorite song by you, and I'm really hoping for a "Defying Gravity". That song gets me everytime. Again, I think you are absolutely amazing and June 26 can not come soon enough!!! (Any chance of a meet-and-greet?? :])
Love,
Diana

Hi Idina! I'm going to the 7/18 Atlanta show and I'm driving from Cincinnati to see you for the first time live. I'm really looking forward to it! I can't wait, you're so passionate and entertaining, not to mention completely amazing vocally!! Anyway I think there are ons of songs you could sing well, but I like the "Midnight Train to Georgia" idea and maybe "Where You Lead" by Carole King or you would rock out some serious Carly Simon and Heart. I think you should do some throwback to the strong singer/songwriter women of the 60s/70s. They paved they way for all of us women musicians and I think with your vocal power and versatility, you could really tear some of their songs apart. Can't wait to finally see you live! Wish I could meet you! Love what you do, keep paving the way!

Sorry to add more, but here's my input...

Idina,
Thanks for giving your fans a chance to get involved in your concert material, and once again hope you had a wonderful birthday. I actually don't know very many songs, which is very sad, but from the ones I've seen in these couple hundred comments, some stand out to me:
Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
Fields of Gold- Eva Cassidy (or anything she ever sang)
Nobody's on Nobody's Side- Chess
Beautiful Disaster- Kelly Clarkson (acoustic version!)
So Close- Enchanted
Anything that's older jazzy stuff, because you sounded so great at the Memorial Day concert!

Some ones that haven't been mentioned that I love include:
Bridge Over Troubled Water- Simon & Garfunkel
Alone- Heart (gives you the chance to do a little rocking out!)
Imagine- John Lennon (I think you did a version a while back)
Amazing- Janelle

However, everyone knows your spin on any song would be amazing! Once again thank you so much for you being you and maybe I'll see you in Cleveland this summer or in Philadelphia in the fall??? I saw you twice in April and you were absolutely inspiring and a joy to watch and hear. Keep doing what you do :-) ~Jenna~

Cover Ideas...

Hi Idina! As far as cover songs go, stay away from the newer ones... but I would suggest:

-Anything by Carole King ("Home Again" would be a great one for you)

-Anything by Eva Cassidy (Her version of "Over the Rainbow" is amazing)

or

-Anything by Jim Croce (Some of his ballads, re-worked, would sound wonderful with your voice)

By the way--- COME TO OHIO!!!!!!!! Please. :)

come to the midwest!!!!

Hey Idina!
I thought that the two older songs that you sang at the memorial day concert were really awesome, I think you should do more songs from that era!! You sounded absolutely amazing (as always!)

I think that some of the older songs like that showcase actual vocal talent better than some of the newer things that some people are suggesting :) and it would be really cool :)

although anything you sing will be amazing i'm sure :)
